Preventive Maintenance (PM)

What is a PM?

Preventive maintenance (PM) is the first line of defense against unplanned downtime and equipment failures. It involves testing, measuring, and making adjustments that will help prevent issues.

Inspection

First, the equipment is inspected both internally and externally for defects, wear, damage, and signs of potential failure. If anything is found, it is noted on the service report.

Measurement & Adjustments

Measurements are taken for the critical parameters of the equipment to make sure that the equipment yields results that are within the tolerance levels.

Is it necessary?

Without regular maintenance, problems that go undetected in your equipment can manifest into larger issues, with more significant costs and longer periods of downtime. Of course, maintenance and inspection won’t catch each and every potential failure, but it can help to reduce the potential for many of the most common failures.

The additional cost of a PM is far outweighed by all of the long term benefits that it produces.

Kits & Parts

PM kits include parts and services recommended by the manufacturer to be replaced and performed at regular intervals. These kits are intended to extend the life of the equipment.

Keeping records

When the PM has been completed, BDLS will provide a detailed service report for each unit that a PM was completed on.
